Does it matter which Driving School or Instructor I use?

Yes it does and heres why.

Fully Qualified Instructors.

There are currently 35,692 fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADI's), that

are authorised by the

Driving Standards Agency.

They will have a green badge as shown above.

Trainee Instructors.

There are an additional 51,338 Potential Driving Instructors (PDI's). They will display a pink badge.

Of this 51,338, only 4% will ever qualify, the rest will cease instructing after the 6 month trainee licence expires.

It is important to note that PDI's have never been examined on their ability to instruct, so their skills to teach you to drive is unmeasured.

Bumpers does not use PDI's,

we only use fully qualified

Driving Instructors.

If you add up the figures, there is more than a 60% chance that you

or your child is being taught by a trainee!

Insurance?

Bumpers instructors belong to the Driving Instructors Association, which means you are covered by up to £5 million of insurance cover should an accident occur.

Pass Rates:

The national average is 43%, for a driving test pass. With Bumpers it

is in excess of 85%.

Trading Standards:

Bumpers is Trading Standards Approved. This means that our

business practices, insurances

and our customer care have

all been approved.

Instructors:

Bumpers uses ONLY fully qualified Driving Instructors, not trainees!

Grade 5 or 6 Instructors Only.

Bumpers only uses instructors that have achieved a 'good' or 'very good' grading from the DSA.

This is only achieved by the top few instructors. Only 10% gain a grade 5,

only 5% gain a grade 6.

Does the grade matter?

Yes, totally.

A grade 5 or 6 instructor has been deemed to have been 'good' or 'very good' by their local senior examiner. This represents about the to 15%

of all instructors.

Grade 4 instructors have been

deemed to be 'satisfactory'

Pricing?

We sometimes hear people say

"I can get lessons cheaper elsewhere".

Yes you can, but just think about who will be teaching you.

We charge a fair rate for top quality driving instruction,. Our rate may be a bit higher but overall you may end up needing fewer lessons.

Bumpers Teaching Methods.

Each lesson you take with Bumpers is planned before the lesson takes place.

Our instructors look at what has been achieved and where you need

to go next.

This includes a full assessment of your progress to date and your ability. Your lesson is matched to your needs,

not ours.

On each lesson you will be briefed about what the aim of the lesson is and we will set you some achievable goals

for the day.

This gives you a better understanding of how you are progressing and also gives you a sense of achievement.

Our instructors do not turn up and say 'lets go for a drive and see what happens'. This is an unprofessional approach and you may as well teach yourself to drive!

Bumpers instructors do not simply qualify as instructors and stagnate.

All Bumpers instructors have followed up their initial training with further voluntary courses to improve their skills.
